a restaurant… Agua

Agua is what I would call a non compromising restaurant. It’s like commenting on the weather with your neighbor in the elevator: it’s a topic, but it works. The food is good, the views are nice, the service is correct and the price is average, so whether you’re going with friends or family, you can have a good meal right in front of the beach knowing that everybody will be satisfied. Organizers, write down: Agua.

a café… La Pallaresa

February 15, 2010

The best start for a cold sunday? A hot chocolate. That’s what I thought while heading to La Pallaresa, which I remembered for being one of the famous cafés in Barcelona where I tasted the best hot chocolate ever. I didn’t have to worry, because La Pallaresa is one of those places that don’t seem to be affected by the passage of time: the same crowded place with the same furniture and the same people serving. You don’t like classic places? At least go for the chocolate…

a restaurant… Tokyo-Sushi

Anthony Bourdain, a celebrity chef and bestselling author, wrote in his book “Kitchen Confidential” something about the incoherence of the words cheap and sushi written together. He pointed out that good fish cannot possibly be cheap, thus restaurants offering cheap sushi were being deceptive. Well, today I must disagree, since I’ve found a restaurant where you can eat a four-course menu with an amazing sushi, for the regular price of any other daily menu in Barcelona. The place it’s hard to notice unless you know where you’re going, but once you’re in, you know you’re in good hands.

a bar… Baobab

February 11, 2010

Yesterday I went to have my breakfast at Baobab. It’s a small bar where you can enjoy reading the newspaper while listening to some jazz music, but you can also have lunch or go for a cocktail after work, as it stays open all day long. For those who like to play the guitar, they have three of them that you can pick on permission.

Welcome to albaper

February 6, 2010

Hi.

And welcome to albaper.

What you’re going to find here is my self-guide to the places I like and of those which I think that deserve to be enjoyed by others. Restaurants, shops, hotels… anything you’d find on a regular guide, except that I’m not Mr. Lonely Planet and I don’t travel all the time.

That’s why I also invite you to share info about interesting places in your cities, places that make you feel happy and that you’d wish others to enjoy too.

However, as soon as I discover a nice place, I post about it.

So keep coming.
